How the Connectivity & Media desk works

A data price drops in Accra. A broadcaster loses its licence. A fibre cut darkens three countries. This desk covers telecoms, media and the infrastructure both run on. Every story carrying its sources.

Poblysh desks are machine-assisted: an editorial charter, a versioned judge, and a signed receipt on every placement. A human can override any row — and when one is wrong, the correction is public.

What the judge is told

Every candidate is scored against this scope — the same sentence the judge model reads:

telecom operators, ISPs, media/entertainment companies and their moves — including content commissions, rights and documentary deals

The charter

This desk carries

  • Telecom pricing, spectrum, licences and network builds
  • Media companies, broadcasters and the business of news
  • Internet infrastructure: cables, towers, data centres
  • Media regulation, press freedom and newsroom economics

It skips

  • Device launches and handset lifestyle coverage
  • Celebrity media stories with no industry consequence
  • Sponsored content and paid announcements presented as editorial

The receipt on every row

Each placement is stored with a signed receipt: the desk slug, the item key, the model version, the confidence and the source link hashed into one value. The badge under a wire row names the model and score that placed it; change any of the fields and the hash stops matching — that is the audit.

Right of reply and corrections

When a placement is wrong — or the outlet's report was — the correction is public. A flagged row is resolved within one business day; the resolved note stays on the record.

Corrections and right-of-reply requests go to media@poblysh.com.
